Race 28: TransWales 3 - Clun - Llanidloes, 16/08/2011

Trans Wales Day 3 - very tiring indeed! 99% of the day was spent on steep wet grass climbs. There were some downs but they were slippery mud and not the best. The best thing about today was lunch! It was most welcome after the energy sapping morning :-)

There was no special stage so positions unchanged. We did the most miles today but less climbing, even though we spent the whole day climbing, hmm...

Guest blog from Lisa:

Today started out as a knee warmer, waterproof  shorts and waterproof jacket day... Very pleased to advise that before the 9am off through the arches the jackets downgraded to gillets and by the first (sizeable!) bump the shorts and knee earners were off too :)  Drizzle and bright sunshine and lots of Welsh hills today, downhill plastercine mud in the woods being our preference today over the grass stuff! Added bonus of an ice cream van at the end after a rather rutty unnecessary cow field (we could see the finish in the other direction to their arrow... Most frustrating !)

Day 3: Clun - Llanidloes
Route Distance: 73km
Total Ascent: 2000m
Total Descent: 2100m
